Good to know

Families

A visit to the castle is suitable for families. The main visitor route is particularly suited to children aged 8 and over. For children aged 2 to 8, nine animals guide them along a sensory trail featuring wooden discovery boxes designed to encourage exploration and discovery.

For accessibility and safety reasons, pushchairs and backpack baby carriers are not permitted during the castle visit. Cloakroom facilities are available at the castle reception.

Toilets with baby-changing facilities are available during your visit.

Accessibility

80% of the exhibition route is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility thanks to a lift and several platform lifts. Accessible toilets are available.

We cannot guarantee that the entire visitor route is accessible to electric wheelchairs.

We recommend visiting with an accompanying person.

Animals

Animals, even on a lead or in a bag, are not permitted within the castle grounds, with the exception of assistance dogs.

Permanent exhibition

Two visitors looking at the permanent exhibition
Grandson: 1,000 years of history
From the first tower built around 950 to the present day, the permanent exhibition traces the transformations of the castle through 15 rooms across 4 floors. Feudal power, the Burgundian Wars, the castle’s successive uses and the preservation of the monument come together to tell a story spanning nearly a thousand years.
